Pavement Ants
Pavement ants
Identification
Small brown to black ants around 1/8 inch long with parallel grooves running down the head and thorax.
Habitat
Nest under sidewalks, driveways, and foundation cracks, often visible as small dirt mounds pushed up through pavement joints.
Why They're A Risk
Large colonies can undermine pavement and slabs over time, and workers will forage indoors for food.
Signs To Watch For
Small mounds of displaced soil along cracks in concrete, and ants entering through gaps near foundations.
